Somnath Trust accepts the request of cleanliness campaign "Punyam Poonkavanam” initiated by IPS officer Shri P. Vijayan, to give benefit  of online darshan and aarti of Somnath Mahadev

 

Chennai, 20th March 2023: Thousands of devotees and 1001 special invitees from 51 Shiva Temples from Kerala, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh and Telangana joined the Live Darshan and worshipped virtually the first Jyotirlinga- Shree Somnath temple.

The Ayyappa temple in South India is an important religious place. Millions of devotees visit this temple every year. Disposal of garbage was a major problem here. IPS officer Shri P.Vijayan initiated the “Punyam Poonkavanam” to ensure cleanliness at pilgrim places. 

Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi also lauded this campaign in his Mann Ki Baat programme. The volunteers of Punyam Poonkavanam and the Somnath Temple Trust jointly participated in this historic event. Devotees from 51 famous Shiva temples from Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh and Telangana connected virtually with the Somnath temple in Gujarat. 1001 devotees from these 51 pilgrim places joined the virtual Shiva Puja and Aarti offered by the Somnath Temple.

Under the vision of Hon’ble Prime Minister of India and Hon'ble Chairman of the Trust Shri Narendra Modi, Somnath has become a place where spirituality and modernity meet. To add, the Somnath Trust has developed in an unprecedented manner in information and technology.

IPS Shri P. Vijayan highlighted the concept of “Punyam Poonkavanam” and the group's work related to cleanliness and environment. He praised the Live Darshan facility provided by the Somnath Trust.
